I don't want to spend a lot of money for a roof top dish mount, what can I do to hold my dish.
There are several alternatives to the motorized or crank-up roof mounts. Many folks just bolt the mounting arm to an 18" square piece of plywood. This gives you a lot of flexibility in placement. If you're willing to spend a little more money, a tripod can be purchased to mount your dish. For a few dollars more, the tripods with a central tie down are pretty good at resisting winds. Of course, you can mount the arm to the rear of your RV, but then you'll have to park pointing mostly north, and you'll still have to bring the dish in when you travel.

Portable auto-aiming dishes are available from Winegard, also Dish Network's own Tailgater.

Cost is no object, what products are available to make On-The-Road DBS easier?

From HobbyTalk on DBSTalk: A little FYI. Dish now has a dedicated Dish Network RV Support Team. Direct line to the RV Support Team is 888-309-0370. I have found them to be knowledgeable in the use of Dish in an RV (unlike the general CSR you get on the phone) and will set you up with a second receiver that you can use in your RV.

Two options offered if you already have Dish is a second leased receiver at $7 or so a month (depends on the receiver) that can be used in the RV. This will require a 24 month commitment. Second option is you purchase a receiver and can you can activate when needed at $7 or so a month (depends on the receiver), then turn it off when you want. No commitment.

If you don't have Dish you can purchase all the hardware and get a month-to-month service that can be turned on and off when you want at normal Dish programming rates. No commitment.

Dish HD for RV at 2011 CES

Pay-as-you-go TV for the RV is basically a different presentation of the Flex pay-in-advance program. It allows you to buy a month of any regular Dish package at a time, with no extra fees to stop or resume service. The customer must purchase the receiver, dish and installation. The auto-aiming 1000.2 is roof-mounted and folds down to under 10" for travel; it does not auto-track in motion. The tracker dome model does work in motion or can be tripod-mounted for any one DBS slot from any provider; the video shows how quick it points to a different satellite.
